Governance
Innocence Canada is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1993 and incorporated in 2000.
Innocence Canada’s mandate is to identify, advocate for and exonerate individuals who have been convicted of a crime they did not commit and to prevent wrongful convictions through legal education and reform.
Innocence Canada’s Board and Innocence Canada Foundation’s Board are both regulated by a set of By-Laws.
Governing Bodies
Innocence Canada and Innocence Canada Foundation are separate organizations, each governed by its own volunteer Board of Directors. The Innocence Canada Case Review Committee, a committee of the Innocence Canada Board, is responsible for assessing wrongful conviction applications.
