About the Innocence Canada Foundation
The Innocence Canada Foundation is a Canadian registered charitable organization (#8551 45462 RR0001) and works to support the following charitable objectives:
- Providing legal services to low income persons in Canada for the purposes of establishing that a wrongful conviction has occurred and exonerating that wrongly convicted person
- Raising public awareness of the criminal law and the judicial process
- Providing financial assistance to low-income wrongly convicted clients for the necessities of life
- Supporting educational initiatives that help to address the causes of wrongful convictions

Why Donate?
Innocence Canada is the only national non-governmental organization working to exonerate the wrongly convicted. While Innocence Canada benefits from the commitment of volunteer case reviewers who donate thousands of hours of time every year, the wrongly convicted and Innocence Canada require other forms of support in order to prove claims of innocence. These costs can include:
- Private investigators
- Forensic testing
- Expert opinions
- Witness interviews
- Court filing fees and expenses
- Travel costs to meet with the wrongly convicted in prisons across Canada
- Transcripts of proceedings
- Travel related to investigation and costs of case management
If you wish to donate by cheque please make it payable to the “INNOCENCE CANADA FOUNDATION” in order to be eligible for a tax receipt.

The INNOCENCE CANADA FOUNDATION gladly accepts donations of publicly traded securities. Please fill out this form and send a copy to your broker and another the Director of Operations, Mirette Shoeir, mshoeir@innocencecanada.com.
Once the shares have been received we will email you a tax receipt indicating the market value of the shares as of the day they were received.
